5. It was truly for my benefit
6. that the Buddha went to the river Nerañjara.
7. When I heard his teaching,
8. I shunned wrong view.
9. I used to perform a diverse spectrum of sacrifices;
10. I served the sacred flame,
11. imagining, “This is purity.”
12. I was a blind, ordinary person.
13. Caught in the thicket of wrong view,
14. deluded by misapprehension.
15. Thinking impurity was purity,
16. I was blind and ignorant.
17. I’ve abandoned wrong view;
18. all rebirths are shattered.
19. I serve the fire for those
    worthy of a religious donation:
20. I bow to the Realized One.
21. I’ve given up all delusion;
22. craving for continued existence is shattered;
23. transmigration through births is finished;
24. now there’ll be no more future lives.
