6. and had just gone forth
7. when I overcame the mighty adder king
8. with my psychic powers.
9. I brought water for my mentor
10. from the great lake Anotatta.
11. When he saw me,
12. my teacher declared:
13. “Sāriputta, see this
14. young boy coming,
15. carrying a water pot,
16. serene inside himself.
17. His conduct inspires confidence,
18. he is of lovely deportment:
19. he is Anuruddha’s novice,
20. assured in psychic powers.
21. Made a thoroughbred by a thoroughbred,
22. made good by the good,
23. educated and trained by Anuruddha,
24. who has completed his task.
25. Having attained ultimate peace
26. and witnessed the unshakable,
27. that novice Sumana has the wish:
28. ‘May no-one find me out!’”
