4. In the twenty-five years
5. since I went forth,
6. I don’t know that I had ever found
7. serenity in my mind.
8. I had failed to find peace of heart,
9. or any control over my mind.
10. When I remembered the victor’s instructions,
11. I was struck with a sense of urgency.
12. Though subject to so many painful things,
13. I have, through my love of diligence,
14. reached the ending of craving,
15. and fulfilled the Buddha’s instructions.
16. This is the seventh day
17. since my craving dried up.
