3. Uttarā (2nd)
4. “Taking a pestle,
5. young men pound grain.
6. Providing for partners and children,
7. young men acquire wealth.
8. Work at the Buddha’s bidding,
9. you won’t regret it.
10. Having quickly washed your feet,
11. sit in a discreet place to meditate.
12. Establish the mind,
13. unified and serene.
14. Examine conditions
15. as other, not as self.”
16. “After hearing her words,
17. the instructions of Paṭācārā,
18. I washed my feet
19. and retired to a discreet place.
20. In the first watch of the night,
21. I recollected my past lives.
22. In the middle watch of the night,
23. I purified my clairvoyance.
24. In the last watch of the night,
25. I shattered the mass of darkness.
26. I rose up master of the three knowledges:
27. your bidding has been done.
28. I shall abide honoring you
29. as the Thirty gods honor Sakka,
30. undefeated in battle.
31. Master of the three knowledges,
    I am free of defilements.”
